Erectile dysfunction medicines seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A man was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications through the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.
"These kinds of items being sold, typically online, have actually undergone no quality control and there can be no warranty about their safety.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the result drugs like this may have on your health."
